Having had 5 children, we have been through many, (at least 5,) musical crib toys. This is by far my favorite. I bought it because I wanted something both soothing and interesting for my youngest child to look at as he drifted off to sleep. It fit the bill with the soft colors of the lights and the music it plays. I liked that it had a long play option (12 minutes). My son has loved it from the first day I put into his crib, (6 mos). He is now almost 2.5 and can put it on himself, and does for both nap and bedtime! I do wish I could have given it a 4.5, though. We are on our 3rd one in 22 mos. I have bought the "new version" of it (looks like an aquarium) and already am looking to buy the original again. The new one is too complex for our needs. My son, who wants it to play, is having to learn 6 functions the other didn't offer. It comes down to this...we like it so much I am looking to get our fourth before #3 dies. He loves and uses it so much I am willing to get yet another one! :-)

This is a great toy. It's a night light, it has classical and regular instrumental music and it encourages interaction. As a baby, the knobs were too hard for her to press so I just put it on the 12-minute continuous play mode. But now my daughter enjoys being the DJ. And the straps are convenient for me to hang this anywhere within her reach.
I loved it so much I sent one to my best friend for her newborn!!! GREAT TOY!!!
Overall, all my Baby Einstein purchases have met and exceeded my expectations. |
A must have...

| My kids just turned a year old (I have boy/girl twins) and they still love this toy. At first we only had one and then we realized we needed one for each crib. We've used it since we first came home from the hospital to help our little ones go to sleep. It has lots of really nice, soothing melodies, and the lights and swimming fish are mesmerizing for the little ones. I can't tell you how many times this has helped my kids go to sleep. I also like that you can change the light level - there are several different light combinations to choose from depending on how much visual stimulation you want to provide. My kids also enjoy the crunchy sounds the flippers make, and pressing the buttons on there own. It's really an all around great crib toy/sleep soother. |

| We received this toy used as a gift. My son has been mesmerized since 3 weeks old. As a music educator, I love that the music selections are major works and played with harmonies - not just the melody - and that the lights are synced with the music. I am adding this to our son's wishlist this year (he is only 6 weeks old) as we want one for his pack and play as well as the crib! |
good for babies and "big" kids

My daughter loves this! Got it as a shower gift and at 17 months, she still plays with it. Attached to our crib fine, and at 6 months old she and I had to live in a rented room for a month for a residency rotation and I was able to attach it to the corner of the pack n play (used one strap and looped it around the top of one of the corners). Thank goodness, because at that time it was a god-send and essential to getting her back to sleep in the middle of the night when mom was too tired to sing. Now she plays with it about everyother day, usually when she's ready to get up but mom has gone to work and dad is in the shower. Keeps her busy for a while pushing all of the buttons and singing along with the music!
(Update April 2010)
So much for passing this on to the next kid. It's still attached to my 2 1/2 year old daughter's bed and she occasionally plays with it when she awakens before us. She loves her turtle! Highly durable and has been a great crib toy. |
